Thnx Nejc 😛 Photo by Nejc Stefanc |
We had made ourselves cossey at the refugio somewhere in the middle of nowhere at the Passo San Pellegrino. It was a nice morning. A white morning.
Bluebird my ass ! It was dumping again XD |
Looking out at the window it was dumping. Yes. The old projection form Thursday had predicted bluebird but now more snow was on it`s way. Exactly what we needed to get more fresh on day 2 of our Italia trip.
Going local. It`s me Mario |
Before breakfast thou we had a new Italian among us. Yes Miha had gone local. Now completely indistinguishable form the Italinaites he was now Mario. 😛
But before getting to the cable car station we had something else to take care of. It had snowed so much that the road from the Refugio, filled with fresh show was impassable without snow chains. How many freeriders does it take to put on snow chains. The answer in our case was 5. After like half an hour we were more or less set to go.
One car done one more to go XD And my Chains were a lot nastier 😛 |
When we got to the funivia Col Marmolada we were happy to see that the number of freeriders had seemingly decreased. We got ready and bam, turbo gondola, were up at the top. First run we decided to take it easy to warm up. I was still quite exhausted and well my knees were not exactly super cooperative. Bad for drop landings After a little crisis and a few crashes on the head, Miha shouted to me to pull myself together and it worked as a kind of wake up call. Red Bull helped too. So crisis averted!
On the first day Nejc and I were scooping the upper chairlift for nice and useful cliff drops for shooting. They looked ok the day before but most of them had been snowed in by now. After looking for some time we did find one for a nice kicker spot but we would need blue sky to get the money shot. So we decided to keep it for next time.
More playground – For next time ! |
Still wanting to get a shot Nejc had a great Idea. Left to the cable car station at the steep end of a open area to the right before a no fall drop was a nice ridge where we could each get a nice spray shot. The nasty thing was that we had to hike back up in the steep on 30 cm of pulvery pow pow. But hey well do everything for a shot right. The results were pleasing 😛
For the rest of the day we used the nice fresh to our advantage. Condition wise it was a little gnarlier then the day before coz the 30 cm were not fixed and it was very ava prone. Slug patches were a bit of a problem so we had to take care not to ride to close together. We even found some sweet stuff on the other side of the resort. Some herding greens that were nicely covered but still stable. As you know where there is only grass avalanches form super quickly.
The crew 🙂 |
Like the day before it cleared up a bit in the afternoon exposing the beauty of the whole area. We will definitely return here. But before you leave check out the Italian Skiersempire page and like them on facebook. They organised the cool ski test event on the 1st day and have more stuff coming up. I’m looking forward to there Night event on the 23.2.2013 😛

If you haven`t been following, check out the little clip I put together from the my Go Pro from the two awesome days.
After that we headed home, but on the way I got a SMS from Blaž form the KILASKUTE bikeclub. Apparently snow had come to Slovenia and Ljubljana was white. They were getting a backyard pipe session on the way so before finally eating something we would check that out.. even if only for a few minutes as our hunger was imnense XD DUBOČICA PLESKAVICA FTW !
