Monster Mountain Wake Jam 2013

Another weekend another contest. It’s hard to believe that a year has already passed, since one of the more interesting cocepts of one of these was first held on a little accumulation Lake at Ljubljanas doorstep mountain skiresort Krvavec. Sponsored by Monster energy drinks, this one can most certainly be held in a league of its own.

Imagine this: You like to wakeboard and also like heights, you ski or snowboard in the winter and you probably noticed all the lakes that have been built just to hold water, for making artificial snow. Now, put these two together and you have the recipe for the mountain wake contest. So here we have it, riding wakeboards, wakeskates and other watery gear at roughly 2000 m altitude. Now to make it more fun, you also add a kicker and a few boxes to grind. May the best rider win.

I did in fact miss last year’s contest, while enjoying my time and the Greek paradise island of Karpathos windsurfing, but this year I was in the area so I decided that a little photo shoot was in order. I hadn’t seen my wake boarding friends for at least two months and since it’s always so much fun to photograph these watery action things checkout a few of the better pictures from the contest:
